The way things used to be. Some of the most awkward and cringe-worthy television commercials to have been broadcast on Australian Television during the 70s and 80s. Here, you'll find a series of ads displaying shocking range of fashion, hair styles, acting, scripts, ideas and jingles.
If you think it's bad today, have a look at the tacky ways advertises used to promote products back then.
*A special thanx to Troy (TypicalAussieBloke) for these ads*

That’s Gerry Tobin from sovereign hill 😅
Dr Linderman’s grand daughter Enid had quite the fascinating life herself, and there is a book written about her, called ‘Enid’.
1812 overture is now owned by the Australian army
now days the match to light it would be 40 cents
My Zia visited us in 1980 for what seemed like years, but was probably only months... I remember watching her walk through the doors into the international gate at Tullamarine airport. She turned and waved goodbye several times. She was crying, we all were as we waved goodbye. This beautiful commercial captures the heartache so many of us experienced so accurately. 😢
Do you have the entirety of clips in this series in high quality? I recall there being one with Napoleon and one with Robin Hood.
Right up there with "Hey charger" ...as iconic as they come...not only this ad, it was the combination of "Winfield cup" in the footy...it was the perfect storm for me leaving Highschool in 1982,...In primary school we would stand around and tell one liners from Hoges show the previous evening. I was already a seasoned smoker of Winnie Reds in highschool. A member of Kurrawa surf club, I don't remember too many of my mates who didn't smoke, I was picking up Glasses in the beer garden of Broadbeach International Hotel on weekends as a 16 year old (pretending to be 18). It really was a completely different era...I dunno we grew up faster. I would sneak out week night and see bands at the (long gone) iconic Cloudland ballroom in Brisvegas..bands like "echo and the Bunnymen", "Ian Dury and the Blockheads"...thats how old we're talking hahah Thankfully gave up the cancer sticks 6 months ago at the age 59...insidious bastards...I had a good run, don't miss them...don't smoke kiddies
Football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars
Even to this day this song pops in my head from. Time to time. I finally found it. I was 8 years old in 1984 it's stuck with me since then.
Still stuck in my FRKN head 40 years later!!!!

There are lots of people in this advertisement.
Those clothes were really fashionable for '87.
Before Australia vs. Erdrea baseball game in USA
I went to Black Rock Primary School, in the mid-70s, with the blonde kid, so the ad must go back a few years before 1980.
I remember this ad, 'How Piu's balls get so flat , he hit em with a baseball bat, where ,where, where would Piu be without Brut 33 !!
❤😂 Bring back Born Hoffen Bread 😅

commdore 64 comenzo en el año 1983.
Se supone que es el año del comercial, además Commodore 64 se lanzó en 1982 aunque no encontré fechas por territorio.
Don't forget to throw a shrimp on the BBQ LoL

This Girl looks a little bit like the late comedian Cal Wilson 😥
Sell all wobble boards, paintings etc at the auction worth forty cents.
Did you know this guy (Ted - your not taking the Kingswood - Bullpit) was also the original voice for the Mortein "Louie the fly" add.
Was just randomly wondering Has icee ever made a commercial? & Here we are lol
My sister did the voice over for this advert
...This ad, also Hudson Timber's ,'That's Hudson with a "haich" ' slogan helped to "define" Australia....Pro Hart helped a bit too; advertising carpet but not his own art (some readers may have to discover who Pro Hart was)...Peter Allen (that damned "fairy") loved to call Australia home but usually from overseas....Clive James, Germaine Greer, Robert Hughes, Barry Humphries, Richard Neville, Peter Allen, Nick Cave, Rolf Harris, Geoffrey Robertson...et al. What is their commonality? This video/slogan is far more than an advertisement for Holden cars isn't it? The most exciting aspect is the voice-over man's correct pronunciation of Australia - something most (>51%) of its inhabitants don't.
16 years ago is crazy
It’s been a long time since the ladies could be sure of having a good length for only 40 cents. 😮😮
Maybe this commercial jingle should have been sung by pea-beu bryson
Omg I remember this from my childhood in the 80s. This would not go over so well on TV today. Now I’m trying to find the life be in it song on the ad 😊
